TCOM 2010 – Technical Writing Introductory Memo Exercise
This assignment has a dual purpose. For one, I'd like to learn a bit about you. For two, the memo's subject should get you thinking about how taking this class will benefit you.
Deliverable (1)
In a 250-400 word memo addressed to your instructor, discuss the following subjects:
- First, discuss your major and career plans.
- What is your major?
- What job do you want after graduating from Southern Poly?
- How do you think the skills you learn in college will apply to your desired career?
- Next, describe the types of writing you will (or think you will) do in your career.
You should think about:
- Why will you write on the job?
- For whom will you write?
- What types of global or multicultural audiences can you expect?
- How will your writing differ when appealing to these different audiences??
Submission Requirements
In this class, I only want work submitted to me on paper; I do not want your work via email. Emailing me your work means I have to download it and print it before I can grade it. I have neither the time nor the financial resources (toner, paper) to do this.
